Witfontein Trail Run

Our trail grading: ORANGE 1A
Distance: 10km
Extremeness: Fairly easy with scary bright greenness
Location: Witfontein plantation, George, South Africa
Joggers: Deryck Nel, Leanie Nel, Anke Nel & me

After a long drive from Calvinia to George today I was keen to do a trail run in my home town. I met up with my good friends and regular trail running compatriots from Stellenbosch, Deryck and Lianie. Deryck's sister also joined us for the first couple of kilometers in very, very humid conditions. The trail follows a jeep track through established Witfontein plantations and also passes a number of tranquil streams and areas with natural forest. Aside from the nasty climb between 4km and 6.5km this is a fairly easy run with awesome views of George and the surrounding areas. On a good day you can even see the sea!

Interesting: The Witfontein plantation is part of the Outeniqua Nature Reserve.
