Saaltjie Trail Run

Our trail grading: ORANGE 3B
Distance: 13.75km
Extremeness: A tough climb & very technical jeep tracks
Location: Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Joggers: Deryck Nel, Dirk van der Merwe & me

This morning we started the jog with the "peaceful" single track we discovered during the Botmas to Jonkers trail run. To our surprise we saw that it continued into unknown territory which we obviously started to explore. The single track took us straight up towards our pre-planned route and after about 3km Dirk left us on the Wim-single-track. After this it was climbing all way to 935m AMSL! We reached the Saaltjie (saddle) after about an hour and the views were spectacular! After taking a photo or two we headed down the very technical jeep track and linked up with our Jonkers East Loop route. Just a random note... never ever ever wait for Deryck while climbing! He will soon forget your good deed and kick your ass on the downhill! It was tough, but I will never say no to some pace on the downhill!

    1. Al wat ek onthou is hoe jy die eekoring gevloek het wat jou spoed gebreek het toe hy oor die pad hardloop. Shame dit is darem hulle woud!
