JMC Scouting Trail Run

Our trail grading: ORANGE 7B
Distance: 22.42 km
Extremeness: Tough climb, technical single track and burned Proteas
Location: Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Joggers: Only me

This morning we scouted part of the Jonkershoek Mountain Challenge (JMC) route - the race is only 2 weeks away! At least half of Jonkershoek is still closed because of the fires, so we did not have too many options. We started on the Jonkershoek circle route and then headed up Panorama. Never underestimate this gruelling 3km climb! From here we linked onto the contour route which is part of the JMC - the burned Protea bushes are fairly tough to navigate since after the fire they scratch in stead of bend when you run past them.  We took the Never Ending MTB route on our way down and linked up to the single track in the middle of Jonkers. It was good to be back in Jonnkers after the fire!
